Mio figlio ogni tanto ancora si deve collegare per delle call di scuola, reminiscenza spiacevole del covid, di solito usa il suo tablt ma questo è caduto e con schermo crepato e da sostituire, quindi mi ha chiesto di usare il mio pc perchè lo smartphone ha lo schermo piccolo, e qui casca l'asino, cioè io  :D
perchè non avevo mai usato su meet e nemmeno altrove, la webcam integrata e non viene rilevata.
Ho provato ad installare cheese per vedere se veniva rilevata ma niente.
Ho provato qualche comando da terminale ma non vedo niente:

La vedo dura.

La camera dovrebbe essere questa voce :00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (secondary) (rev 03) Nota il "secondary" che però non dà nessun driver installato e non ho idea di come si possa attivarlo su linux.
Da ricerche che ho fatto, chi ha risolto ha dovuto aggiungere una camera USB.
Hai Windows su quel PC? riesci a vedere se lì la camera funziona correttamente?
Controlla se nel BIOS c'è una voce relativa alla camera e se è attivata o no.

Prova a postare journalctl -b | grep -i "00:02.1"

Il pc in questione è questo con MX, ne ho un'altro con windows 10 ma nella casa in campagna, sicuramente lì funzionerà.
Era giusto per vedere se riuscivo a farla funzionare. chissà come mai le webcam integrate singhiozzano molto con Linux, ho visto molti altri topic in giro al riguardo.

Mi ero imbattuto altre volte su questo display "secondary" senza mai venire a capo su come linux lo trattasse. Mi sembra strano sia stato ignorato del tutto da linux, magari cercando col giusto argomento può saltar fuori qualcosa, al momento non ne ho la minima idea.

Prova a vedere che risponde grep -i "00:02.1" /var/log/syslog
dmesg | grep -i "00:02.1"


Installa xawtv e poi posta xawtv -hwscan
Vediamo se salta fuori qualche traccia utile.

Posta anche mokutil --sb-stateil secure boot attivo può dare problemi per il caricamento di alcuni driver.

Te lo ricordi perché hai messo il comando video=SVIDEO-1:d fra i comandi d'avvio del grub? (insieme a quiet splash)
è un comando che disabilita l'uscita supervideo (se non ricordo male).

Sai che non saprei, su MInt anni fa qualche modifica l'avevo fatta, però non mi ricordo ho cambiato almeno 3 versioni, da due anni quando ho installato MX, non ho più modificato nulla.

quindi il comando aggiunto video=SVIDEO-1:d non sai da dove viene.

Lo conosci il metodo veloce per entrare nelle istruzioni che il grub esegue all'avvio? (Praticamente il file /boot/grub/grub.cfg)

Al menu del grub premi il tasti "e" e ti ritrovi nelle istruzioni che il grub va ad eseguire -
individui la riga che contiene "quiet splash", ci posizioni il cursore e cancelli il "video=SVIDEO-1:d"
occhio a non premere mai "Invio" perché spezzeresti la linea.

Una volta cancellato premi F10 per avviare il sistema, controlla che tutto sia a posto e prova ad avviare la webcam, meglio se da terminale (cheese o quel che c'è).

Quando chiuderai la sessione, al riavvio tutto sarà come prima della modifica fatta al grub.cfg.

Mai usata la webcam su questo pc, ho sempre usato tablet e smartphone, e poi prima del covid non serviva.
Quel comando son sicuro di non averlo modificato. Provo il tuo suggerimento, quindi è temporaneo?

Sì, vale solo per la sessione che avvii, quando chiudi e riavvii tutto è come prima.
